Ellis Island was very interesting, I really enjoyed it and you could spend a whole day there just checking everything out. We did not stay long it was getting cold and late and we still were heading to Ground Zero and China town. Here are some pictures of Ellis Island.
Here is a picture of the actual ledger from one of the ships. There is a name highlighted on it that was a relative of one of the employees. Also Kacee checking it out.
This is a jar of jelly beans that they have on display. It asks you to guess how many and then tell you that there are 11,747 that is as many people that came thru Ellis Island in one day on April 17, 1907. I thought that was amazing.
Here are the Stairs of Separation, one side lead to the railroad, one to New York and one to detention. This was were alot of families were separated at.
Here is the Bull for Wall Street
Here is pictures of the wall for Ground Zero and also the fire station that is around the corner and across from where one of the towers were. I didnt get many pictures since it is a construction site. I was amazed at how small the streets were and how amazing it is that more things were not destroyed. I was also very shocked that there is a fire station right there, there was a tour group and the lady talking was saying that this particular station was actually out on a call when the towers were hit.
I didnt get any pictures of China Town but what an experience. My sister Kacee came up with passwords to see if we wanted her to barter or not. It was great. I think my aunt Bonnie and cousin Jacey had a great time there. It was crazy all the people and the little chineese ladies asking you coach, prada, chanel etc and then wanted you to follow them to vans that are hidden. We then took a walk up to little Italy and had great food and yummy treats.
